Patient Driven Payment Model 1 (PDPM1)

Currently the payment for Medicare and Medicaid recipients receiving care in nursing homes is based on Resource Utilization Groups IV (Medicare) and III (Medicaid).  New Federal regulations were recently passed which would require Medicare beneficiaries receiving care in nursing homes to be paid under a totally new system, the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM1).  This system is RCS1 after the comments received under the proposed ruling resulted in significant changes to the RCS model it necessitated a renaming of the model.  Although the Resident Assessment Instrument/Minimum Data Set will still be used as the tool to gather the information related to the residents condition, the calculations for payment follow a totally different algorithm structured to more closely align with the resident's diagnoses and their condition.  Attend this webinar to learn how this change will impact the facility and the documentation required to assign the resident to the correct category.
