RKL LLP will present a webinar addressing the MDS changes effective FY 2019, i.e. October 1, 2018.  There are a number of changes to the MDS this cycle, many of which have generated questions as to the correct way to code the information.  If you have such questions this is the time and place for them to be brought forward for resolution.


Tracy Montag, RN, BSN, RAC-MT

Ms. Tracy Montag has participated as an instructor/speaker on health topics at various seminars and conventions for the state and national level health care organizations and staff at multiple long term care facilities.  Having participated as the co-leader for the State of Pennsylvania in the MDS 3.0 Pilot Project, she was responsible for the research, data collection and site training piece of the project. She worked as an independent contractor with CMS, participating in educational videos titled: MDS 3.0 and the Interdisciplinary Team and the MDS 3.0 and Facility Leadership. Ms. Montag is identified as an expert in Long Term Care in the MDS 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User’s Manual.  She has recently achieved the status of Master Teacher with AANAC.

Karin Sherman, RN, RAC-CT

Karin is a Senior Consultant with RKL’s Senior Living Services Consulting Group. She has over 12 years of clinical experience in the post-acute healthcare industry, with expertise in the areas of clinical reimbursement, compliance, Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), survey preparation, ICD-CM diagnosis coding and was chosen to serve on AANAC’s Expert Advisory Panel (EAP) earlier this year. Karin has been a presenter at state organizations as well as providing education to all levels of staff in post-acute healthcare settings. Prior to becoming a consultant, Karin worked as a Regional MDS/Reimbursement Resource, Director of Resident Assessment Services and Admissions, and MDS coordinator at various sized facilities.
