TITLE
HIM Role/Use of CDI Tools in Long-Term Care
Introduced in the acute care arena, CDI allows for concurrent review of the clinical documentation and whether the assigned ICD-10-CM code accurately and completely reflects the clinical indicators found in the medical record. In those instances when the clinical indicators do not support the code, the staff utilizes the query mechanism to obtain clarification from the providers. The 60-minute session will focus on the preparation for use of MD Queries with the Medical Director, the physicians and the skilled facility; how the facility can effectively implement such a program, and the careful parameters of use.
