Skilled Nursing and Therapy Documentation under PDPM: Risks and Benefits, Tips and Tools
This session will focus on the documentation requirements outlined in the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual (MBPM) Chapter 8, Section 30, related to nursing and therapy. The importance of clear documentation to support reasonable and necessary, skilled services based on the MDS coding will be highlighted. The risks of insufficient or inaccurate documentation will be demonstrated. Tips for systems to promote defensible documentation and tools for training and monitoring will be shared.

Terry a Senior Consultant for LW-consulting, Inc., has thirty-nine years in the long-term care industry. She is AANAC-certified RNAC (RAC-CT) and Director of Nursing Services (DNS-CT) certified. Terry is on the Board of the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (PANAC) as the Director of Membership and is a well-known speaker for learning sessions, federal compliance, MDS education, care planning and clinical reimbursement. Terry graduated from the Nursing School of Wilmington in Delaware.

Kay is a seasoned Senior Consultant for LW Consulting with more than forty years of healthcare industry experience, specializing in geriatric rehabilitation in skilled nursing and outpatient rehabilitation across the continuum of care. Kay graduated with her degree in physical therapy from Temple University and her MBA from the University of Central Florida. Kay has been certified as a Resident Assessment Coordinator for over seven years. She frequently joins the nurses to present a combined nursing-therapy perspective of care delivery.
