Risk Management and the MDS: Trends in the Identification and Misidentification of Key Issues in Resident Care
The session will provide examples used in nursing home malpractice cases and False Claims actions. A mock deposition with a volunteer RNAC from the audience will be used to illustrate the importance of collaboration and documentation. This “deposition” will use the facts from an actual nursing home case in which the long-term care facility was given an IJ for a resident who fell based on the discrepancies between what was contained within the MDS and care plan and the testimony of the C.N.A.
