This session will address updates from the Office of Long Term Living. A review from the most recent results related to Field Operations Review Process will be discussed. An update will be provided on the Medicaid Payment System and Community Health Choices and the latest information important to Field Operations and Medical Assistance will be relayed.
Kerry Weaver, BSN, RN, RAC-CT, Senior Healthcare Consultant, Myers & Stauffer LC
Kerry Weaver BSN, RN, RAC-CT is a graduate of Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing and Millersville University. She began her nursing career as a CNA in LTC and after graduation from Nursing School spent 16 years working in acute care as a labor and delivery nurse. She came back into LTC as an MDS coordinator and spent 9 years in the role of lead MDS Coordinator. Later moving on to corporate, multi-facility oversight of clinical reimbursement in both the Non-Profit and For-Profit sectors. She recently became a part of the Myers and Stauffer team in Harrisburg as a Healthcare Consultant. Myers and Stauffer provides Medicare and Medicaid many services including auditing, rate-setting and consulting services to many State and Federal agencies.
Ruth Anne Barnard, BSN, RN, MDS/PASRR/Field Operations Coordinator, Commonwealth of PA Department of Human Services-Office of Long Term Living
Ruth Anne Barnard, RN, BSN, is a graduate of Lycoming College. She has been the MDS/PASRR/Field Operations Coordinator for the Division of Nursing Facility Field Operations in the Office of Long Term Living in the Department of Human Services since 2002. She researches areas of concern and provides guidance to the Nursing Facility Field Operations Teams and others statewide for MDS and PASRR issues. She also spent 14 years in the clinical setting as a Supervisor in a Rehabilitation Facility and as a Medical/Surgical Staff Nurse before coming to the Commonwealth.
The Division of Nursing Facility Field Operations has approximately 65 staff members divided into 7 areas throughout the state. Nursing Facility Field Operations is a utilization review program for the Commonwealth that includes Medicaid payment review, review of residents targeted under OBRA 87, and evaluates data elements from the MDS for supporting documentation and accuracy of data transmitted to the State Database that affect Medicaid payment.
•This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Ohio State Nurses Association Approver Unit, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s commission on Accreditation.
•1 Contact hours will be awarded for this continuing nursing education activity. Criteria for successful completion include attendance for the entire event and submission of the evaluation form.
