Where Were You During the Emergency?
The assessment office is either the first or the last place that is affected when there is an emergency. There is either the sense that the assessment nurses are utility nurses or that they no longer have the capabilities. Emergencies, large or small, man-made or natural disaster types don’t always afford us the luxury of thinking through that dichotomy. So let’s be prepared in the assessment office! Let’s help with taking control of our destiny in an emergency. This session will provide guidelines, ideas and thoughts around emergencies and what is asked of staff related to the emergency plan. The session will outline staffing contingency plans and where the assessment nurses can best make a difference while remembering MDS assessments continue to be important for the organization.
